About me
Josh is a Regional Mathematics Specialist on a mission to help students discover fun, engaging, and useful math—not just an endless grind of computation and memorizing. He cultivates and defends environments where learners safely disassemble their preconceptions, clean, and upgrade the parts, and rebuild a fuller understanding.Josh taught secondary math in Boise, West Ada, and online, and also worked as a financial analyst. Today, one of his passions is saving exhausted teachers from reinventing the wheel. There are great (and also mediocre) math resources online, and Josh "finds the good stuff so you don't have to" on an IRMC2 math resources webpage tinyurl.com/irmc2resources.When he isn’t supporting math educators, Josh tutors math and music, directs a children’s choir, and embraces the wonderful chaos of life with his wife, five kids, one cat, pianos and stringed instruments, a small mountain of recording gear, and a menagerie of books.
