About me
Jacque Deahl serves as the GEAR UP Idaho Statewide Coordinator at the Idaho State Department of Education, where she works with colleagues and partners across the state to support college and career readiness efforts for students. Her work focuses on strengthening career connected learning opportunities and helping schools make clearer connections between what students are learning and how it applies beyond high school. At the Department, Jacque has contributed to efforts related to the Idaho Career Readiness Competencies and broader future readiness conversations, with an emphasis on making skills like communication, collaboration, and problem solving more visible in everyday instruction. She has also supported programming that helps students explore pathways and reflect on their experiences in meaningful ways. Prior to joining GEAR UP, she led a college readiness initiative for two community colleges and worked in leadership roles within youth-serving organizations including CASA, Boys & Girls Clubs, and Junior Achievement. As a once unengaged student herself, Jacque understands the impact that one meaningful experience or one supportive adult can have. She enjoys bringing people together to share ideas and build practical approaches to this work. She has not yet mastered the art of the common idiom, but uses them anyway because, as she would say, that’s just how the cookie stumbles.
